Saturday, July 31st, 2010

It is natural to feel elements of guilt from time to time when you are a working mum. You sometimes feel as if you are doing the wrong thing all the time, even when you are doing your best. If you decide to stay home and look after your children, you think that some people are looking down their noses at you, accusing you of not contributing enough. If you decide to go back to work after childbirth, you feel guilty about that option as well and feel that some people are criticising you for not giving enough attention to your children. Surely, you can’t win? You are not alone in feeling this way and rest assured that this kind of torment is quite usual; it might be a good idea for you to consider professional coaching? Phenomenal Ideas On Confidence Boosters For Mums Returning To Work

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

It’s never easy taking a career break, but sometimes ‘you’ve just got to do, what you’ve got to do,’ as the saying goes. The decision may be necessary if you have a special event ahead of you, welcoming a newborn into this world. Mum can be very focused indeed when it comes to the significant challenge of raising a child and it is understandable that her main focus may not, for the time being, be on her career, which will be on hiatus. Thankfully, our society is very understanding and mum is very rarely in a financial bind during these all-important days.

Relatively few women actually go through the effort of planning out a career in its entirety, taking into account what they plan to do in their life from a personal perspective and mapping out how they will handle childbirth, all the way through to the transition back to the workplace. It is, after all, very difficult to plan your entire career and personal life in advance, most especially given the financial and economic uncertainties that we have encountered in recent times. Such economic turmoil is enough to throw anyone’s plans off track, but for the mother getting ready to return to work after her break, it can be a particularly stressful time.

Mum needs to be very confident when she returns to work after a career break, for a number of reasons:

First, she should remember that she was hired in the first place due to a combination of skills, ability, education and personality. This is a great combination that most human resources department heads are looking for and are equally aware represents a fairly rare find. While not being overly promotional, she should shrewdly draw attention to these assets.

Second, remember that there is nothing to feel guilty about. Within the society that we live, childbirth is a right that all women can claim and employers build their obligations into the fabric of their business. It is sure to be quite disruptive for any employer, but everybody can take this in stride and deal with it and it’s certainly not a reason for the mum to feel guilty.

Third, don’t forget that you will have picked up some excellent managerial and planning techniques, as you moved through the process of childbirth and family planning. Don’t underestimate these important skills and remember that you will be able to convert them for use within the work environment, as well.

Fourth, remember that, on average, 50% of the workforce is made up of women, a large proportion of whom fully sympathise with your position, as they have been in your position! You will have many a sympathetic ear, when you return.

Lastly, the fact that you now have a family to take care of is a marvellous achievement in its own right. Not only should you be proud of what you have done, but you should consider that, after the rigours of childbirth, anything that they can throw at you in the workplace should be relatively easy to handle.

Don’t worry if you think it’s too much for you, as professional coaching can help you get through it. Within our hectic daily lives, we have access to online coaching as a solution, where professional coaching for women returning from childbirth can really help to overcome any and all problems that lay ahead.

How Shapewear Transformed My Life!

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

You may wonder why I talk about shapewear as much as I do. This is a pretty in-depth story. So sit tight.

I, like most women around the world, love Oprah. Who doesn’t? She’s an American Icon who made it to where she is by utilizing her mind, her social prowess, and overcoming a huge self esteem issue caused by an obesity issue. It isn’t surprising that besides Michael Jackson, it’s the name Oprah that children and women worldwide recognize.

So I was a slightly overweight child. Well I guess I wasn’t enormous, but at one hundred and twenty-five pounds I definitely could not compete with all the skinny one hundred pound girls in my class. As a young teenager I avoided pool parties, disco parties, sleep overs, skating rings, school dances, sporting events, etc. I pretty much ducked out of all social situations that required me to wear form fitting clothes.

And thus as young girls were going on their first dates, getting kissed for the first time, and going to school dances I was watching Oprah reruns. Let me tell you- I loved Oprah.

So you can probably tell that I was relieved beyond doubt when I came across an Oprah episode where Spanx creator, Sara Blakely, is waving her footless pantyhose about! . She’s talking about footless pantyhose, slimming apparel, and much more. So I Google her. And I find the answer to everything I’ve ever wanted- Full Figure Shapewear! I feel like I’ve discovered gold! As I dedicate the next three hours to scouring the internet for any and all information concerning shapewear, I come across an article which talks about shapewear of the 18th century. In the 18th century slimming apparel was called the foundation garment and was worn under long dresses. Basically the corsets and the brassieres of the 18th century are comparable to today’s firm shapewear. With the grace of God, today’s shapewear is so much more comfortable that brassieres and corsets were. In fact, contrary to popular perception, when I wear Firm Shapewear I don’t feel constricted at all. In fact, I feel liberated. My posture improved, I was able to go on dates without worrying about bumps sticking out in the wrong places, wear white pants, and look pretty great in just about anything.

And you wouldn’t believe, once I got my confidence, I began to want to look EVEN better. So basically, once I started wearing firm Shapewear, I began to want to push my body to improve. I finally began to max out my gym membership. I began to respect my body by eating healthier foods. I stopped drinking alcoholic beverages. I stopped smoking cigarettes. All I needed was that feeling of ‘not worrying’ constantly about my weight. Slimming Apparel did that for me. Once I was comfortable in my clothes I was able to completely transform my lifestyle.

I mean I guess you could debate that it’s actually my love of Oprah that transformed my life. Because if I hadn’t watched Oprah religiously I may have missed that iconic episode where Sara Blakely showed up with her footless pantyhose.

So tell me. Was it Oprah or Shapewear that did the trick?

How To Evaluate Online Vocal Lessons

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Are you looking for an NYC singing lessons? Online course or a voice coach are your alternatives to learning. Would you rather have a voice coach in NYC or choose online vocal lessons? How can you compare a real NYC voice coach to online singing lessons? The truth is, online vocal singing lessons are becoming better and better as the technology is becoming mature.

Here’s how to evaluate online voice lessons.

1. Reputation is what you should look for. In popular video sites, there are a lot of free online voice lessons in there. There are apparently millions of videos in Youtube or Vimeo with free vocal lessons. Can you trust them, is the question? A lot of these people in popular video sites have no idea what they are doing.

2. A great online singing lesson should include downloadable audio-visual components. You need audio-visual samples in order for you to improve your vocalizing and pitching. You should get media that has no copy protection so that you can put it in portable media players.

3. Another must-have for a great online singing lesson is the PDF file included. This PDF file should contain music theory, muscle control, posture, proper breathing, and a whole lot more. The PDF should have complementary audio and video included as standard.

4. The product is good if they have great customer service and technical support. A good online voice training should have a website and a helpful forum where you can post questions and suggestions.

The great thing about online courses is the fact that you can repeat it again and again. There is also something about learning at your own pace that makes online learning virtually stress free and convenient for anyone without time. In addition, paying for an online course is cheaper than paying hourly for a voice coach.

It is up to you to really do the research on these things. You have to consider the advantages and disadvantages of learning online. It is ultimately better to learn from a live voice coach, but you can always opt for online course if you do not have the time or the money.

Do not strain your vocal cords when singing, so always protect yourself. When it hurts, something is wrong with the technique.

Now you know how to judge a good online singing lesson. Use the list above to check if your chosen online course is good or not. Of course, when you want to have premium service, you need to pay a premium fee. There are a lot of free singing lessons out there, but again, you pay value for value.

Guidelines For Emergency Water Storage

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

The human body can only live for 3 days. This makes water a vital facet of emergency preparedness.

Nearly twenty-five gallons each day is used by each individual in most households. This includes water used for drinking, cleaning, flushing and food preparation. Additionally, most of the systems which supply water to these homes are dependent upon electricity. Even residences with wells typically make use of electric pump systems. So, water storage is important should the power grid go down.

It’s suggested that you evaluate your family’s requirements for a 7 day period. With careful usage, 2-3 gallons per individual will suffice in very warm weather. Half of this water will be employed for drinking. The other half will be used for cooking and hygiene. You might not take in this much water currently, but take into account that other options for beverages might not be available. You will also be living with no air conditioning or electric fans. Drinking water will be required to replenish moisture your body loses through respiration and perspiration.

If you’re warned that there’s an looming scarcity, you may fill all storage containers at your residence which might be sufficiently strong to hold water without leaking: ice chests, buckets, bowls, bathtubs, sinks, and so forth. Divide your water into 2 categories: drinking and non drinking uses.

It’s recommended to prepare for a minimum of 7 days without having water. This means that every person in your household will need twenty-one gallons of water kept in storage. To be on the safe side, store two times this volume. For 5 people, this would mean 105 gallons of water should be stored. Twice that amount would be 210 gallons. Translated, this would mean you would want two to four, 55 gallon drums.

A gallon of water weighs a little less than 8 1/2 pounds. Keep this in mind when thinking about storage and transportation of water. Quantities of water would be better stored on a reinforced cement floor as fifty-five gallons of water (excluding the weight of the drum) would weigh nearly five hundred pounds. This is often too heavy for most various other flooring systems.

Should you be unexpectedly without water service, you’ll find places in your own home which contain useable water. Typical hot water heaters can hold 40 or more gallons of drinkable water. Drinkable water can be reclaimed from the tank on a toilet. Collect and store ice from your freezer. Don’t neglect to utilize the water inside canned foodstuffs as every drop matters when water is scarce.

Water can be obtained via downspouts or in a youngster’s wading pool in the course of a rainstorm. Additionally, clean bedspreads and sheets can be left out to absorb the dew or rain and then wrung out over a storage container. Non drinking water sources include things like water from the toilet bowl and the waterbed mattress.

Plan ahead to prepare for possible water shortages. Get imaginative with tactics to renew your stored water once the tap is shut off. Educate yourself and your loved ones to conserve the water you DO possess.

Anger is a normal emotion and should be openly expressed appropriately. Anger management or psychotherapy classes can be completed one-on-one, with family members, or in a group setting. They can be completed one-on-one, with family members, or in a group setting.

You will need to identify particular stimulants when working on anger management and write them down. Determine physical and emotional signs that occur when anger begins. Wanting to scream at someone or hold in excessive fury are emotional signs. Anger management begins with the need to recognize when you are not thinking logically about a situation.

What Made Me Not Lose The Pounds

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

It is common for a person to always be on some type of diet. They’ve tried every weight loss plan, scheme that they see advertised or on websites like http://www.fatlossfactor.com, and 9 times out of 10, their attempts flop because of one of four reasons that if you are aware of and if you know what mistakes to watch out for, you’re be a step ahead of the pack.
The first is that someone does not put in a good effort. Getting rid of the extra fat means that a person must put forth an effort. If you’re not truly ready to make a full-time commitment to losing weight, chances of long-term success are pretty slim. If someone is not dedicated to making the right choices every day, they will give in the temptations that are all around and thus will see their plan fail. The sad truth is, it’s not really worth starting a weight loss program if your head isn’t in the game. The best thing a person can do to avoid this is to do some serious soul-searching and identify a significant and enduring source of personal motivation for finally shedding the extra weight or find a support system like the ones that can be found at biggest loser weight loss forum.
Reason #2: You expect miracles. Individuals who launch a new diet with unreasonable expectations regarding how much weight they’re going to lose each week are signing themselves up for trouble. Another thing that upsets some people diets is that they want to lose more than is possible. One of the main reason that people stop a fitness regimen is because they think it should be working better than it is and thus is not worth their time and effort.
It is well documented that healthy weight loss goal is 5 to 8 pounds monthly and even though a person can shed more than that at the beginning this is a normal weight loss. I know television shows and infomercial success stories lead you to believe that you can melt off fat in a matter of weeks by following their specially designed six pack ab exercise program, but the truth is, successful weight loss is a slow and steady process. There is no better way to ensure that you can get to the weight that you belong at if you realize what your body is capable of doing and accept that it will require time to reach your desired weight.
Reason #3: Your plan isn’t sustainable. Don’t try to follow an extreme weight loss plan that doesn’t even slightly resemble normal eating. If you don’t like the food, you won’t stick with the plan. Even when one of these restrictive plans does allow a person to lose weight, they find the weight returning once they start eating normally again. A good eating plan is one that contains food from all of the food groups, but they should be eaten in moderation. A diet should be viewed as a launching pad for a long-term lifestyle change. If a person tries to get fit and trim by using some miracle pill, they will find themselves looking for another plan real soon.
Number four is that dieters should not expect perfection. It is normal for people to mess up on their diet. What a person needs to know is that is okay if they cheat every now and then while they are dieting. A lot of us give up because we gave into that temptation so there is no need to keep trying since they have already failed. To be successful, you have to learn to overcome these temporary setbacks. Just because you failed once does not mean that you can’t be successful in the long run, a diet is a marathon not a sprint. Unfortunately, it can be incredibly difficult for some individuals to break this cycle of negative thinking.
So those are the simple rules to follow for a successful diet plan. Before someone starts any type of fitness regimen they should thoroughly think about how they are going to accomplish it. Then they should strap themselves in and enjoy the ride.

The Most Important Lesson for New Managers: Effective Communication

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Whether you got your new position because of sheer skills and experience or luck let you land on the job fresh, thinking about a plan for success is important. It may not be that obvious, but managing people is actually a very difficult job. So, the efforts that you put as you start your new role will spell the fate of your career.

Authors of management training programs try this learning management system software that has a free trial period you can avail of.

How you handle your team should be on the top of your list, aside from doing your regular work. First you should know that regardless of the kind of management strategies you will engage in, the end-goal is for you and your team members to learn from each other throughout your relationship. And because you are the manager, you are responsible for establishing that give and take relationship.

If you and your team are not working with each other to learn and grow together, then you need to reassess your priorities big time. If you get lucky, you will have employees who are smarter that you and who really know what they are doing more than you do. However, do not take this negatively, instead think of it as a blessing. At the end of day, your success as a manager will be defined by the quality of work done by your teams.

Usually, a supervisor fails to realize how important being educated by their employees is. Oftentimes, what they do not see is the importance of learning from a mutual and continual process as opposed to authority and control. Sharing the learning experience will foster a relationship based on respect. Work relationships molded from respect lead to improved performance.

That is why, your strategy should focus on the quality of your communications as well as your accessibility as a manager.

One way is to apply and teach effective communication. How good you are as a leader will greatly depend on how effective your communication skills are. It might sound easy, but doing proper communication is difficult. It is beyond the spoken word; it is about expressing an accurate message through tone and body language and to understand the real message that you get in return. Maintaining the communication lines always open, having the knack to adapt your style with the different types of audiences, and making sure that everyone is one the same page is necessary. If you hone your communication skills as a manager, you and your team will reap the benefits.
